We sat down with FunctionalDX Practitioner Judy Rocher to find out why she chooses FDX and why she recommends it to other practitioners. You can watch the video of our discussion below or keep scrolling to read the blog version.
Judy Rocher’s Practitioner experience
Like many practitioners, Judy’s journey into the world of functional medicine began with trying to get to the root of her own health issues. After she was hospitalised with pneumonia, she “had a lightbulb moment”, and began working with holistic practitioners. Having been inspired by the enormous changes this investment made to her own health, Judy then decided to leave her high-powered City career and study Nutritional Therapy.
How Judy Rocher became a FunctionalDX Practitioner
In Judy’s experience, she found that some symptoms clients were experiencing could feel like they were misleading to a practitioner and not giving the full picture.
“Clients would come in with severe acne, and rather than just treating the skin, I reached out to FunctionalDX to get to the underlying reason for the symptoms. FunctionalDX gives such incredibly comprehensive markers of all the different body systems and helps you get better results with your clients. I found that acne outbreaks in my clients could actually be due to liver dysfunction, a hormonal imbalance or a nutrient deficiency. “

What FunctionalDX blood panels does Judy Rocher use?
“I always recommend FunctionalDX blood tests for my clients. My go-to panel is the FDX Thyroid Inspect, because I specialise in Lyme disease and chronic illness. Fatigue is a huge issue with my clients, so I always want to check all the thyroid markers. And what I love about this panel is that it’s so comprehensive. Thyroid Inspect gives you a full look at all of the thyroid markers, including thyroid antibodies, with the possibility of identifying potential underlying autoimmunity. My clients get good value for money, because the panel looks at all the different body systems as well.”

FDX blood chemistry analysis helps practitioners like Judy to see health trends and even if a client has not actually become ill in a particular area, with testing you can detect the trends of where their health is starting to show signs of dysfunction.
“We can actually help people to maintain their good health and not just treat symptoms. I find that very, very useful. I also love that you can tailor the panels. So, if there’s a particular marker that you want, you can add that on. If there’s something not included in the test and you want to, for example, do an H Pylori test you can request that.”

A case study from Judy Rocher where hidden dysfunctions were identified
“I’ve had a number of clients who suffered very badly from constipation. Now, you tend to think of constipation as coming from the gut. And so you do stool tests and have a look for parasites, bacteria, viruses etc. By using the FunctionalDX tests, quite often, we identify a potential gallbladder dysfunction, liver issues, pancreatic problems, and stomach issues. This is very useful when you have hard to clear symptoms that have been very persistent. With a full test we may find that a part of the body is not functioning as well as possible.
By getting the gallbladder functioning fully, ensuring that bile is running freely, can really help with clearing constipation. As I tell many of my clients, all the probiotics that you’ve been taking for the gut are not going to resolve the issue until you’ve got the liver and the gallbladder, the pancreas and the other organs all working optimally.”

Why does Judy Rocher choose FunctionalDX?
“I’ve tried many tests and I’ve used many labs, but I always come back to FunctionalDX. I love the continuity that FunctionalDX gives you and the fact that they are so comprehensive and very good value for money; you get such a lot of information. To any newly qualified nutritional therapists I would highly recommend that they get started with FunctionalDX. It’s helped my practice and has been absolutely brilliant to help me with supporting my clients to get well.”
