OFFICE AND LAB SERVICE UPDATES

Due to the upcoming postal strikes during September, October and November and several staff training days, this will impact postal services and the FDX office will be closed on select days in October. Please make note of the times below and add them to your diary.

 

Staff training days October 2022

Monday September 26th/Tuesday September 27th

The FDX office will be closed on Monday September 26th. On Tuesday September 27th we will only be open between 2pm and 4pm for posting and urgent matters.

Ordering kits
Test kits ordered from 1pm Friday September 23rd to Monday September 26th will be dispatched on Tuesday September 27th.

Returning samples to us
The lab will remain open and samples can be returned as normal by post, courier or in person.

Tuesday October 4th and Wednesday October 5th

On Tuesday October 4th the office will be only open from 9am to 2pm. The FDX office will be closed on Wednesday October 5th.

Ordering kits
Test kits ordered on Tuesday October 4th (after 1pm) and on Wednesday October 5th will be dispatched on Thursday October 6th.

Returning samples to us
The lab will remain open and samples can be returned as normal by post, courier or in person.

Monday October 10th

The FDX office will only be open between 2pm and 4pm for posting and urgent matters.

Ordering kits
All test kits will be dispatched as normal.

Please note: The situation with postal services remains fluid. While we will dispatch all test kits as per the dates and times above, we cannot legislate for postal delays. To guarantee your test kit delivery, we suggest purchasing guaranteed next day by 1pm (applicable for office opening days). As such, we advise you not to book phlebotomy services until you or your client have received your test kits.

Postal Strikes in September, October and November 

Due to the newly announced Postal Strikes in September, October and November please be aware of the following dates that will impact services with regard to the posting out and returning blood samples and test kits.

Please note that FunctionalDX do not take any responsibility for Royal Mail or other courier strikes and delays which may spoil blood samples, making them unviable and incurring additional costs of repeat kits and blood draws.

RETURNING SAMPLES

Friday 30th September

If a sample bas been returned today, Thursday 29th September, it is unlikely that it will arrive at the lab tomorrow. We will notify all practitioners whose client samples have been affected once we have confirmation from the lab of their viability. If the sample is not viable a new kit will have to be purchased and blood draw undertaken. We ask you make your client aware of the situation.

Thursday October 13th

Please do not return samples on Weds October 12th for delivery on Thursday 13th. Or on Thursday October 13th for delivery on Friday October 14th.

Thursday October 20th

Please do not return samples on Wednesday October 19th for delivery on October 20th. Or Thursday October 20th for delivery on the Friday October 21st.

Tuesday October 25th

Please do not return samples on Monday October 24th for delivery on Tuesday October 25th. Or Tuesday October 25th for delivery on October 26th.

Monday November 28th:

Please do not return samples on Monday November 28th for delivery on November 29th. Or on Tuesday 30th for delivery on December 1st.

To mitigate the postal strikes clients can return blood samples to the lab by hand or through an independent courier by 1pm each day. This additional cost is at the client’s expense.

 

POSTING OUT KITS

Please note that kits will automatically be sent out as First Class unless Next Day Delivery (next working day) is paid for. Please be aware that on postal strike days, Next Day Delivery (next working day) will not be honoured by the Royal Mail.

Friday September 30th

All orders received by 3pm on September 29th will be posted on the same day. However, we cannot guarantee a delivery date. Please allow a minimum of 3-5 working days for delivery.

Thursday October 13th

Please order on Monday 10th or Tuesday 11th and pay for Next Day Delivery (next working day) if urgent

Thursday October 20th

Please order on Monday October 17th or Tuesday October 18th and pay for for Next Day Delivery (next working day) if urgent

Tuesday October 25th

Please order on Wednesday October 28th for Thursday 29th – please pay for Next Day Delivery (next working day) if urgent.

 

FURTHER STRIKE ACTION IN NOVEMBER

Please note there are also several days in November on which strikes are planned for processing, distribution, collections and admin. As this is an evolving situation we will update you as soon as possible on how this will affect postage out and the returning of test kits.

We have no control over delivery times during this tricky period and we expect delivery of kits to be affected. We strongly advise that you do not book blood draws until your client has received their test. Please also take all the strike dates above into consideration.
